Managing Deliveries to the Vulnerable During COVID-19 With D4H
With a population of over 114,000 people within the Lancaster Area, Morecambe Bay Food Bank had a challenge ahead of them when they were tasked by the City Council to provide humanitarian relief to isolated and vulnerable members of the community in the form of food parcels. They decided to deploy D4H's full suite of readiness and response products to help manage their COVID-19 response.
For the past two weeks, Morecambe Bay Food Bank has been tasked by Lancaster City Council to provide humanitarian relief to the local community in the form of food parcels for those vulnerable or within isolation. With a population of over 114,000 people within the Lancaster Area, this is no small task.
“We needed a method of recording our collections, deliveries, vehicles, volunteers, incidents, training and meetings.”
— Alex Bowden, Lancaster Area Search and Rescue Planning Manager (Morecambe Bay Food Bank Operations)
With a fleet of 9 vehicles and a maximum of 80 food parcels per vehicle, it was imperative that they would have a system that is quick to customize, easy to use, and accurately reports after. They deployed D4H’s full suite of readiness and response software solutions to help manage every aspect of their COVID-19 response.
“With the support of Lancaster Area Search and Rescue; a team that has been utilizing D4H since their formation, we have created a system that has allowed us to not only stay on top of incoming requests but also plan ahead and schedule our activities for the coming week.”
— Alex Bowden, Lancaster Area Search and Rescue Planning Manager (Morecambe Bay Food Bank Operations)
